On Friday, United Kingdom announced that Pakistan would be taken off Covid-19 red list for travel from September 22, 2021. Depressing in every sense of word

Coming back from the Friday prayers, I had a quick lunch before switching on the television set to watch what was  scheduled to be the first cricket match of the New Zealand's tour to Pakistan. But, as a turned out, the match remained just that "scheduled". It never took place. It was disappointing, disheartening and depressing to hear that the black caps had decided to call off the tour at the last moment citing security reasons without bothering to share any information with Pakistan Cricket Board, the security establishment or with the government. One wonders what exactly their fear was after they had been in the country for few days and held practice sessions amid prefect security arrangements and protocols. In the first place, the tour had been given the green signal after the security personnel from New Zealand had officially expressed their approval of the arrangements that had been made by Pakistan for the touri...

All about life

The portrayal of women, the language of instruction. The treatment of topics. The constutionality of federal diktat on the provincial subject. The extent of public consultation. The conflation of secular and religious subjects. There is no shortage of issue on which the single National Curriculum  has stirred controversy. One area that has faced less security is the coverage of life skills. Given the prevalence of early marriage and pregnancy, poor awareness about sexual intercourse, reproductive and maternal health and widespread child abuse. This is an unfortunate oversight. During the development of the SNC, a conference on the theme of life skills based education was organized, staring hope that  topics such as as puberty and consent would be addressed. But information available indicates that limited life skills content will be included in the SNC, with a focus on religious values and inclusion, understood narrowly as respect of ethno-li...

Devaluation of Pakistan"s currency

Hello friends, I hope you all will be fine and doing good, Why the Pakistani currency is going towards devaluation by passing of every day as one US Dollar is equal to Rs.170 in local currency, this is the highest increase in US Dollar. The reason behind it is shortage of US Dollars in the country, non supply of US Dollars in Afghanistan by the USA and payments by the Government of Pakistan in terms of debt to International Monetary Funds (IMF) and other countries.               The reason may be so but it is seriously effecting the Pakistan' currency. The State Bank of Pakistan has injected 2.12 billions into the interbank market in the last three months to curb the devaluation of the rupee, but its move has not been successful and the rupee has fallen to an all the time low. The historical devaluation of the rupee shows that expansion polices have to pay the price without addressing ...
