How to start a business with Amazon
We all know the story of Jeff Bezos and the Blue Origin Company
— he is a visionary who saw that the space transportation industry (and thus,
humans) could change the world for good. However, after starting up the
company, many mistakes were made and even his own life was threatened by
critics who didn’t like how ambitious he was.
Fortunately, now very smart people have come into his position
and turned this brilliant idea into reality. This way, he has left the company
in total safety because everyone else now doesn’t want any more threats to their
ideas and goals. So there are tons of great tips to make it easy for you to get
started on your own business with Amazon.
Choosing Your
Product
There’s no
doubt that every startup out there is different, but we will choose one product
that we find really interesting, but also have a huge base of customers who
love what they do and would definitely recommend it to someone. Here are a few
examples (and yes, Amazon as well) that I think would be perfect for our
future reviews:
We will talk
about pricing later, but let’s start with this one. In case you don’t already
know, Amazon’s Prime is an extremely cheap service for companies who want to
sell their products, right? Basically, it’s free. Of course, you can also
create a Kindle Unlimited account if you want to.
You also can
choose from different merchants as well (for example you can select Amazon
Essentials or Prime Video). The cool part is that once you decide what to sell,
you only have 6 months to invest in building your brand and launching your
product.
How Much Will It
Cost To Sell The Products?
There’s no
point thinking about prices because Amazon isn’t cheap and you’ll have to pay
for them. If you want to keep your costs down, then use these suggestions below
as well:
We won’t dive too
deep, so just note that when you look at the price comparison page, try looking
only at products that are listed at 0.25 euros or less (if it’s not on sale,
they probably wouldn’t be recommended to anyone, and people would rather avoid
buying those products). As well, we won’t tell you how much shipping cost or
other expenses will be (unless the price of the item is close to $10, then it
should take a fraction of the price).
The best
advice for this is to look for items that are priced between 2 euros and 10
euros, and for the bestselling ones, go to sites such as eBay, Google AdSense,
etc.
It’s
important to note that, unlike online stores, Amazon Prime is actually a paid
membership service. Therefore, it will depend on how big the customer base you
have. For example, say your site has 500,000 users and your average order value
is €100.
Then, you
will need to charge an extra 50% of the price (or 1,999 EUR for a small
quantity of $50), for which you will receive a special offer. This means that
while we won’t actually tell you how much you will pay upfront, we will help
you estimate how much you will receive from sales.
How Many Customers
Do The Purchased Items Reach Once Shipped?
One of my
favorite things to mention is how quickly customers receive the purchased
products after receiving them. They should be delivered within 24 hours and
this is mostly true. Again, Amazon Prime gives you a 60-day delivery policy.
Meaning that since you don’t have to pay for shipping, you will get a 100%
refund if you cancel the subscription (and you will lose a lot of money if you
wait too long).
How Often Is A Set
Price Reached?
Amazon Prime
offers a very low minimum payment rate. Most products go for 0.99% (or less,
depending on how much you sell and how much you intend to spend). There are
some exceptions, for example, most books come with zero to three pages of content
(usually you will only see 4–6 pages in a book, which means you might only get
1 e-book or 3 e-copy) instead of 5 or six pages.
Also, you
will only get 40GB of storage on Amazon Prime and the rest of your orders will
either end up sitting in S3 somewhere for years, or you will have to delete
them. This means that you will only receive payment for a limited number of
transactions. And on top of that, you will have to buy a minimum amount of
packages to cover each order.
So, it may
look quite tempting if you have a large number of orders, but keep in mind that
you will have to pay a price that will lower the chances of you getting back
what you spent. Lastly, you can still get your rewards if using your Amazon
prime will bring money in the form of referrals. These are just some facts and
statistics.
Is Payment
Processing Fee Included?
There is a
credit card processing fee which will cost roughly $1 per transaction. In case
you do not intend to spend less than 0.2% and you want to keep your costs down,
then this should be included in the purchase price or at least will have a
fixed fee. On the other hand, if you have a very low percentage rate that does
get you paid instantly, then this fee will be excluded completely.
How About Shipping
Charges Or Taxes?
It’s common
knowledge that handling your purchases shouldn’t be as complicated as handling
the shipping. You should always calculate the tax or shipping costs and make
sure that you don’t accidentally overpay for something you did not intend to do
(e.g. you should never give away money that you cannot afford to pay).
All
these requirements should be done before paying off the money. Otherwise,
Amazon says that you don’t receive protection from taxes if you pay upfront, so
we can assume that you won’t have to pay any commission. The same goes for
shipping; they don’t provide much information so you need to figure it out
yourself.
Which Keywords
Should Be Used In SEO Campaigns?
Amazon will probably suggest various
keywords (e.g. “Amazon Fresh”, “Amazon Choice”, “Buy Now, Pay Later”, etc.).
You can learn more about them here. However, most people probably use terms
like “Bulk Order” because it sounds straightforward and simple but sounds very
effective. Don’t worry too much about being specific, but focus on what sort
of product your business sells.
Did you
know you can set up custom HTML template templates for your website? Simply add
content, images, videos, fonts, and CSS. It doesn’t matter that you can edit
everything with WordPress tools if you’re going to put it live on the web
(because if you won’t want people to look at it, they won’t be able to see it
either).
We could go
on and on, but we will save this blog topic for another time. Thanks for
